Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry slipping during a dunk attempt apparently means we now have to take the WNBA seriously.

For those of you who might not know, Curry absolutely ate it during a recent game when he attempted a fast break dunk. (RELATED: Warriors Star Steph Curry Suffers Humiliating Fall During Dunk Attempt)

He slipped, went down hard and it was incredibly embarrassing.

Now, we’re supposed to believe his failure means the WNBA is anything other than a circus act. SB Nation’s sub-site Swish Appeal wrote the following Tuesday:

The important irony, of course, is that WNBA detractors like to claim the women’s game is boring because of the infrequent dunking in the women’s game. Meanwhile, Curry is the literal face of the NBA, having built a prominent career and amassed tremendous wealth on a largely dunkless game. Oh, the hypocrisy.

Society’s ability to embrace Curry but not, say Allie Quigley — who banked more threes in last year’s All-Star contest than anyone in WNBA or NBA history — reveals a striking double standard, underscoring that disdain for the WNBA was never about the lack of dunks in the first place.

I can’t believe how stupid this article from Swish Appeal is. It’s actually mind-blowing to me that these words were typed out and then actually published on a major website. Are you kidding me?

Is this still the reality that we’re living in?

People don’t hate the WNBA simply because the female athletes aren’t dunking a lot. We don’t like it because there’s a much better product out there, and it’s called the NBA.

Why do people prefer watching the NFL over fifth-graders playing the same sport? It’s because it’s a more entertaining and better product. This isn’t rocket science. It’s basic common sense.

The WNBA isn’t a great basketball product, or even close to one.

Before you all jump down my throat freaking out, there is a very clear example of a female sport with a great product, and it’s hockey.

The women’s national hockey team draws eyeballs during the Olympics because they’re awesome and entertaining. Why can’t basketball do the same? Because for whatever reason the WNBA is simply a joke.

You might hate the fact, but it’s still a fact.
