Group Claims Texas Dems Sent Pre-Checked Voter Registration Forms To Non-Citizens
The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) on Thursday accused the Texas Democratic Party of sending some non-citizens voter registration forms with the citizenship box pre-checked “yes.”
As Fox News reports, the non-profit claims the state Dems provided voter registration cards with the citizenship box already indicating “yes” to non-citizens. (RELATED: Mexican Citizen Gets 10 Years In Jail For Illegally Voting)
Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted Thursday that the claim is being investigated.
A complaint says the Texas Democratic Party asked noncitizens to register to vote, sending applications with citizenship box pre-checked. This is being investigated. If true there will be serious consequences. #txlege #tcot #PJNET https://t.co/dgSPT8f77G

“A complaint says the Texas Democratic Party asked noncitizens to register to vote, sending applications with citizenship box pre-checked. This is being investigated. If true there will be serious consequences,” Abbott tweeted.
PILF said they received notification of the allegedly improper registration cards from whistle-blowers in the Rio Grande Valley region of the state who received the forms from late September to early October. The election integrity group has released photos that purportedly show pre-checked registration forms, plus a signed affidavit from David C. Kifuri, Jr., who swore that the Texas Democratic Party sent his non-citizen relatives such a registration form.
“I know from previous work experience … that it is a crime to register to vote in Texas if you are a felon with an incomplete sentence or a non-U.S. citizen. I also understand that a non-U.S. citizen can face criminal and immigration jeopardy for misrepresenting citizenship status for the purpose of voter registration,” stated Kifuri.
Editor’s note: The article previous said the group claims Democrats registered non-citizens. The article has been corrected to clarify the group’s claim: that Democrats sent pre-checked forms to some non-citizens.
