Actress Says She Received ‘Absolution’ From The Pope After Aborting Her Baby

Actress Busy Philipps says she received “absolution” from the pope after she aborted her unborn baby at 15 years old.

“It doesn’t work for me without getting the absolution I needed. And from the only person in the world who could give it to me: the Pope in Rome,” Philipps said, according to Page Six Wednesday.

Philipps, 39, recounted how she became pregnant with her boyfriend’s baby when she was a teenager and felt pressured to keep the child after his mother told her that abortion is “selfish” and that she can’t “murder a baby.”

After Philipps’ decision to abort, however, she traveled to Rome with her school where Pope John Paul II spoke to Philipps and made the sign of the cross, allowing her to forgive herself for the abortion.

“I never told this story publicly … I haven’t even told people I’m very close with,” she also said. (RELATED: The Media Ran With The Allegations Against Brett Kavanaugh Without Any Corroborating Evidence)

The actress met the head of the Catholic Church on what would have been her due date, according to Page Six.

Philipps has starred in blockbuster hits, “Made of Honor,” “White Chicks” and “He’s Just Not That Into You,” among others.

In addition to sharing that she’d aborted her child at 15 in her new memoir, “This Will Only Hurt A Little,” Philipps also alleged that actor James Franco assaulted her in 1999 while they were filming the hit ’90s sitcom, “Freaks And Geeks.”
