Trump Issues Direct Challenge To Kavanaugh Accuser

President Donald Trump directly challenged a woman making a high-school-era sexual assault charge against Judge Brett Kavanaugh in a Friday tweet.

“If the attack on Dr. Ford was as bad as she says, charges would have been immediately filed with local Law Enforcement Authorities by either her or her loving parents,” Trump tweeted. “I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!”

Kavanaugh’s accuser, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, surfaced Sunday in an on-the-record in The Washington Post. Ford detailed to TheWP how she sent an anonymous letter to Sen. Dianne Feinstein regarding the alleged encounter months earlier. Feinstein said she forwarded Ford’s letter to the FBI for review but never made the allegations public until stories began to surface around the letter itself after Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings ended.

Ford maintains that she did not tell anyone about the alleged incident until 2012 and never filed any sort of report with the police. Trump’s tweet appears to directly challenge Ford to come forward with any details of the alleged crime, which she told TheWP she cannot remember. Ford is uncertain as to the time, date and place of the alleged crime. (RELATED: KAVANAUGH ACCUSER’S CLASSMATE BACKS OFF CLAIM SHE HEARD ABOUT ALLEGED ASSAULT)

Senate Republicans are now attempting to hold a follow-up hearing on the accusation Monday to discern the facts, though Ford’s attorney has ruled out such testimony. Ford’s attorney has declared that she is willing to testify before the committee but does not want to be questioned by outside counsel and wants Kavanaugh to speak first.

Ford is likely to be pressed on issues of specificity regarding her allegation against Kavanaugh.
